31 Days of Halloween: Day #18 … Best Horror Movie Franchises to Binge
Hello, friends, and welcome to the 31 Days of Halloween!
Halloween Quote
“Sisters, All Hallows’ Eve has become a night of frolic, where children wear costumes and run amok!” — Winifred Sanderson, “Hocus Pocus”
It’s Day 18 of the series, and I know I’m posting a little later in the evening, friends, but life happens when you work full-time. My beautiful October only has about two more weeks, and I’m sad. I’ve been spending some time outside enjoying the cooler temps and taking advantage of the season.

I’m sharing my favorite scary movie franchises today in the series as it’s almost a wrap for this week. Not all horror franchises are worth their weight (so to speak), and in several instances, if the first one is a dud, you won’t give the second flick a chance. When you have so many to choose from, it’s hard to know where to begin, so I wanted to list my favorite movies that I keep going back to watch time and time again.
To clarify my titles, a cinematic universe is a collection of movie franchises that share a similar narrative and continuity. A franchise is a series of films that share a fictional universe or are marketed as a series.
My Favorite Horror Franchises (Universe)
**All the images are linked to their IMBD page.**
Final Destination Franchise ~ 5 films (A Final Destination: Bloodlines is coming in 2025)
ABOUT: If you have a premonition that you’re going to die, you may as well let it happen because Death is going to get you one way or another, and it’ll probably be painful. The “Final Destination” movies are slashers of sorts with a most unusual villain: Death itself. (You see), Death has a plan, and interrupting the plan will only buy you a little time before Death returns with a vengeance. The franchise has made its name with elaborate “accidents” by which Death claims its victims. (Source: https://www.liveabout.com/)
TRAILER FIRST FILM (Final Destination)
Insidious Franchise ~ 5 films
ABOUT: Parents (Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne) take drastic measures when their new home is haunted and their comatose son becomes a vessel for ghosts in an astral plane.
Scream Franchise ~ 6 films (Scream VII Coming in 2026)
ABOUT: Each film begins with the gory murder of at least two people and takes off from there, leading to the revelation of the killer’s identity and the final battle between Sidney and/or other characters and the killer. They revitalized the slasher film genre in the mid-1990s, similar to Halloween (1978) in the 1970s, by using a standard concept with a tongue-in-cheek approach that successfully combined straightforward scares with dialogue and black comedy that satirized slasher film conventions. (Scream WIKI)
Paranormal Activity Franchise ~ 6 films
ABOUT: The films are based around a family haunted by a demon that stalks, terrifies, and ultimately murders several members of the family and other bystanders during the course of the films. The series makes use of production cameras set up and used like security cameras or other recording devices in an attempt to present the films as found footage. [Source Wikipedia]
TRAILER First Film in the Universe
The Conjuring Universe ~ 9 films (A tenth and final Conjuring coming in 2025)
ABOUT: What began with the paranormal investigation of a possibly haunted house has become a sprawling franchise that includes evil dolls, demonic nuns, and even more on the way, providing big thrills for fans of supernatural horror. (Source: Rotten Tomatoes)
