Watchlist: What’s On My MAX List

Hello friends…how are you? Welcome to the blog today.

“The basis of all human fears, he thought. A closed door, slightly ajar.” ― Stephen King, “Salem’s Lot”

Friends, I hope everyone is doing well and feeling good. Remember to stay hydrated, take moments to be still, get plenty of rest, and don’t forget your greens.

When do I NOT have movies and shows on my watchlist? ALWAYS. It’s a delicate balance of getting through everything without feeling like I’ve been in a cave for months just watching TV. I’ve only added a few things to my Fall lineup. I don’t always have time to get to a physical theater, so I have to wait for the movie to come to Peacock, Paramount, or Max.  (Mind you). I still haven’t gotten all of my Summer movies on my list.  I’ve only seen six (now 7 ) of the 15 on my original list.  At this rate, maybe by January, I can round everything up. (LOL)

Here’s what’s on my shortlist for Fall.

Salems Lot
Horror, Thriller
Rated R, 1h 53m

About:  Author Ben Mears returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, only to discover that his hometown is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire.

Coming to Max, October 3rd

COMMENT: The original film was a great mini-series that premiered in 1979. Salem’s Lot was ahead of its time because of its horror element and, of course, Stephen King. Present Salem’s Lot promises to be more terrifying. From the creators of The Conjuring and the producers of IT, I anticipate this will be prime viewing.

I also read this novel about ten years ago, and it’s still as chilling, ominous, and scary as ever.

Love Lies Bleeding
Dark Romance, Thriller, Crime
Rated R, 1h 44m

About:  Lou is a reclusive gym manager who falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder heading to Las Vegas to pursue her dream. Their love soon leads to violence as they get pulled deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.

Streaming on Max

COMMENTS: This movie premiered in March of 2024, and I’ve been waiting for it to come to some streaming service.  Love Lies Bleed has a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes so I’m excited to finally check it out.

MaXXXine
Rated R, Slasher Horror
1h 43m

About: In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.

Coming to Max, October 28th

COMMENTS: This movie is streaming on MAX, so I plan to watch it as soon as it’s available. I refuse to pay 19-29 for a rental because it’s still playing in theaters.

MaXXXine, is the sequel to X, and although that movie wasn’t that great (to me), I have high hopes for this one.

Men
Folk Horror, Drama
1h 40m

About:  Harper retreats to the countryside to be alone after a tragedy. However, her unease at the town’s leering and uncannily similar men grows into a fully-fledged nightmare as her arrival awakens something primal in the forest.

Streaming on Max

COMMENTS: This movie wasn’t initially on my list, but it looked promising as I browsed some trailers.

My list is mostly horror, but what can I say?  I like what I like.   Is there anything you’re excited to see this fall?  Let me know in the comments.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I appreciate every visit and follow.  See ya next time! — Peace
