(PART 1) SYNOPSIS:
Crystal Lake’s history of murder doesn’t deter counselors from setting up a summer camp in the woodsy area. Superstitious locals warn against it, but the fresh-faced young people pay little heed to the old-timers. Then they find themselves stalked by a brutal killer. As they’re slashed, shot, and stabbed, the counselors struggle to stay alive against a merciless opponent.
general storyline
The other movies in this franchise are mostly the same, with Jason dolling out the revenge with different scenarios, in additional locations along with Camp Crystal Lake.
MY RATING: (★★★1/2)
Let’s be frank this is yet another slasher movie with the same motivation: revenge and killing. Granted, the first in the franchise was the best, with a 60% tomato reading on Rotten Tomatoes, and there have been a few others that I’ve listed, but I don’t think you need to see every single one unless you’re a diehard fan.
The others are just more of the same, and they tend to border on silly and will have you and your friends betting on the creativity (if you will) of the kills. Hell, Jason even goes to space which is by far the silliest one I’ve seen.
