What My Skin Is Loving This Winter

Hello Fam! and welcome to the blog.  Thank you so much for spending a little time with me today.

I hope everyone is doing well, staying warm, staying hydrated, eating some great comfy food, and checking in with friends and family.

About once a year I’ll post about my skincare because honestly it never changes.  My skin doesn’t like a lot of different products, so I tend to find “the” thing or a brand that I like and I stick with it.  In my adult years, my acne was (I still have flare-ups) really terrible, so I used Curology for a while, but the treatment became too harsh.

Since Curology also provides a good amount of resources for skincare and acne-prone skin I learned what may be irritating my skin, what chemicals are most harsh, and what products will help my skin heal. But the most important thing I learned from Curology, is sunscreen, sunscreen, SUNSCREEN! Make sure your daily moisturizer, skin tint, or BB cream has an SPF of at least 30.

Winter Skin

Check out the site EWG Skin Deep and search the database to find out what your favorite beauty product may be hiding.

CLEANSERS

I use two cleansers every day.  One for AM and one for PM.  I use Tula, The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser in the morning because I just love that fresh scent, and my skin feels really clean.  At nighttime, I use CeraVe, Hydrating Facial Cleanser with Ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid.  It doesn’t foam a great deal and works well to wash away (without stripping) all the toxins from the day.

MASKS

Every Saturday morning I always do a face mask, and for the last 5 years (hands down) Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask works the best out of EVERY mask I’ve tried. You only need 5-7 minutes with this mask to help clear and shrink your pores and reduce acne.

My everyday mask is the Origins GinZing Glow-Boosting mask which is new to my arsenal but my skin has been loving this since January. This mask you use right after you cleanse your skin, and you don’t wash it off. I follow up with a serum, and then my moisturizer. It’s really been helping to lighten my acne scars and improve my overall skin texture.

SERUMS

I’ve used several serums but I always seem to go back to Pacifica.  Its non-comedogenic ingredients have always worked best with my acne-prone skin because it’s always gentle and doesn’t clog my pores.  I tend to go between two of my favs which are the Glow Baby Vitamin C Booster Serum, and the Vegan Collagen Complex Face Serum with Hyaluronic Acid. They really work well to calm and brighten my skin, and I always use serum after cleansing but before my moisturizer.

I also should mention that these serums are all under $30 dollars, so while I love Drunk Elephant ($48-$80) my wallet appreciates the cheaper option.

MOISTURIZERS

My moisturizers are tied and true and I’ve only used two since the dawn of man. (LOL) Ok not really but for as long I can remember because CeraVe really has those “good-for-your-skin” products that everyone can use.  So in the morning, I use AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 30, and in the evening’s PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. Both are under $25, they are really hydrating and good year-round for your best skin.

OILS

I’ve always used facial oil even with my acne. I’ve tried a few from Whole Foods that were underwhelming, nor can I remember the name. Then I switched to Keihls which was great but expensive, and over time it just wasn’t enough for my skin. Last year while stalking Ulta I came across LOLI Oils and I’ve been hooked ever since.

There are three different oils and I’ve used them all. There is the Tee Seed Oil, the Plum Elixir, and the Pank Plum Elixir. They come in a mini-pack where you can try all three, or a larger bottle of individual oils. I’m currently using the Tee Seed, and I use this as a finisher. Just a few drops on top of my moisturizer or before serum make your skin glow.

LIPPY

I’m only down to lip balm these days because I’m still wearing a mask when I ride public transit so it’s pointless to give my mask all my lip gloss. (the mask is not giving me coins for the money I spend…LOL) I switch between two of my favs and that’s the Folain Lip Balm (it’s sold out everywhere so I’ve linked the one place where it’s still in stock) and Rebels Refinery.  Not sticky or goopy, and they both keep my lips hydrated.

This round out my list of winter beauty products for my skin.  I hope I’ve introduced you to some new ones you may want to try out.  Again don’t forget to check out EWG Skin Deep to search for products you may be using.

Thanks so much for hanging with me today, don’t forget to follow, like, or subscribe to the blog.  I’ll see you next time, and have a great day. — Peace —
