A Thanksgiving Holiday Holiday Hangover
Happy Holiday Fam! Welcome to the blog today …and I’m glad you landed here in my little corner.
Happy December 1st! I know it’s been a few days (I haven’t been neglectful…really I haven’t), but I used the Thanksgiving holiday as my “unofficial” break. Everyone needs a few days and it was nice just focusing on friend and family and cooking. We had a great day, tried some new dishes and everything turned out delicious.
Here are a few pics from Thanksgiving.
I did a really simple table with candles, only two faux pumpkins, some mini pumpkins from the patch and flower filler from the grocery store. Underneath is a table runner because the flower filler was live. I also used a few faux stems that I got from Joann’s in September to put between the napkin and the bowl.
The tableware, silverware, napkins, wine glasses, and candle holders are from West Elm. I love catching those Black Friday deals for things I can use the following year. The other drinking glasses are from IKEA.
Out dinner menu was simple, and I always start a day early to free up space on the stove. This year we had…
Cajun Turkey (Kardea Brown)
Mac & Cheese (John Legend’s recipe)
Collard Greens
Homemade Stuffing
Brussel spouts with a Balsamic glaze
Mashed Potatoes
Sweet Potato Cornbread (Kardea Brown)
And yes …we still have left overs, but most of the sides are gone. (Whoo-hoo) My challenge (always) is getting everything into my fridge, but having the glass storage containters was really a big help.
Christmas Holiday Decor
Now we swtich gears and get ready for Christmas. I’ve already hit up my storage unit, which is always a long arduous process because I have way more Christmas decor than anything. I gathered all my fall things, washed all those cute hand towels, packed it up, and (tried) to put everything back accordingly.
You never realize how much stuff you have until you lay it all out, but I took home, my tree, three faux garlands, two bins of ornaments, two more bins with bags, ribbon, paper, and table top decor, and two bags (yes two) of tabletop trees. I have bottle brush trees, wooden trees, faux green trees, a sweater tree, and a two little felt trees I made in a DIY. (I can’t believe they’ve held up for 4 years). Oh yes …and wreaths!
I’ve started putting a few things out just so I can put away the boxes and fold up the bags, but my plan is to get my tree in place today and have it decorated by the weekend. I love to enjoy it as long as I can. But would you believe that I still need something. I didn’t account for a fireplace mantle (even though it’s really small) but now it’s bare, so I’ve been looking for some cheap art, and if I can find it, I’ll just make it.
Well that’s enough ramblings about the going’s on for the holiday. I’m always excited for Christmas, and I’ve done just a little shopping because delivery times are crazy. I hope everyone had a great holiday, and I have so much more to come, as every December I do a 12 Days of Christmas series.
I love to watch Kardea’s show on Saturdays!!🤗💜
She has the best recipies. Really tasty!
