A Black Friday Hangover … How We Spent a Stress-Free Weekend
Hello Friends and welcome to the blog today.
———-
Hello family! I hope everyone had a great stress-free and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. My daughter and I had a great time. It was probably the most relaxing Thanksgiving considering all that’s going on.
Let’s break down the weekend…
Wednesday was prep-day as I got everything ready. I always make my greens ahead of time as well as the herb butter that I use for my turkey and my stuffing. So yummy.
Thursday I didn’t start as early as I wanted to, but I had my bird in the oven by 10:45 am. I’ve NEVER cooked two at one time so I was nervous but it turned out great. My daughter made the rest of the sides and drinks and we had a blast. Here is the drink recipe … it’s perfect for the season.
Apple Cider Margarita
INGREDIENTS
2 oz of Apple Cider
1 oz of Gold Tequila
1 oz grand marnier
Cinnamon sugar (just cinnamon mixed with sugar for rim of the glass)
Cinnamon stick (for garnish)
MAKE IT!
Place your cinnamon sugar on a plate and wet rim of the glass so cinnamon sugar will adhere to it … turn your glass on the plate
Add ice to your cocktail shaker and glass
Add ingredients to a shaker
Shake well and pour over ice
Garnish with a cinnamon stick
Friday … I was up a little earlier but I usually get up early. My daughter and I posted up in the living room with my laptop and visited all the stores we would have gone to in-person … online.
The real beauty of this is that we did all our shopping with our feet up just relaxing and opted for in-store pick-up. This allowed for our safety in our current climate as well as being in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes.
It was the most stress-free shopping ever. For our other online orders we opted for shipping but still were able to get those “Black Friday” deals on a few movies.
Saturday consisted of just visiting a couple of stores that have low prices every day so there really isn’t a deep discount (i.e., Home Goods). Now let me share a secret about this stress-free day. For stores like Home Goods, World Market, and Micheal’s that close at 9 or 10 pm. Get to the store between 6 or 7 pm. We got to Home Goods at 7 and there were “literally” 10 people in the store because the rush was on Friday and earlier that day.
For the first time since the pandemic, I was able to browse every single aisle with 0-2 people in the area. It was fantastic.
Sunday was me running those Home Depot and Aldi errands. Now granted Home Depot was thick because folks are Christmas tree shopping but I was in and out in 20 minutes because no one is looking for batteries. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any free tree trimmings as I wanted but they did have them bundled for about $6.99 which wasn’t bad.
Rounding out a great relaxing weekend. Here are a few things that I picked up.
I hope everyone had a good weekend and stayed safe. As we head into winter and the Christmas holiday, I remain hopeful that things will get back to normal soon. I’m looking forward to a quiet Christmas at home, with a few minimal decorations. Have a great week friends. — Peace —
We did have a wonderful holiday didn’t we?
We did. I loved it.
