Sunday Journal: Chit-Chat … 52 List for Happiness [#28]
Hello Friends! … and Happy sanctified Sunday. Here we are at the beginning of another blessed week, and the 2nd week in February [Happy Black History Month!]. I’m just glad to be here, and whether I’m stressed, sleepy, or worrying about something it really doesn’t matter because … God is Good.
We all have a certain set of projects that we make a mental note of. I make lists with all my projects, but writing it down doesn’t really bring them to fruition. As a child, I don’t remember any projects, other than what my Mom had me do. All I wanted to do was hang with my friends, and play outside. Enter adulthood and not too much changed. I wanted to work to make money, get that next designer bag, and party. Once “B” was born my priorities shifted but I still didn’t make any list or have any real task other than, work, take care “B”, and take care of my home.
I think it’s interesting that when you get the freedom to dream … your life goals change. You notice things more because you’ve stopped to pay attention. You set tasks and create projects, and whether you finish them or not, you can feel good about something you completed. — This brings me to list List #28 which asks … “List the projects you have been meaning to work on and finish”.
- Fixing the broken parquet floor tile
- Everything in the bathroom
- Photo purge
- Decor purge
- Refreshing my bedroom
- DVD purge|update
- Finish my craft photo course
- Dolly diorama accessories
- Paint closets
- Find a thrift-ted media cabinet
- Re-organize my home file binders
- Finish some DIY projects
TAKE ACTION: Cross out at least one project that you can let go for now, then go treat yourself, because letting go is just as much of an accomplishment as starting or completing a project.
The “take action” portion is really powerful to me, because I always feel like I’m failing at life when I don’t get these things done, and it makes me tear up a bit, typing this. I could let go of several things on this list because they aren’t my responsibility. The one thing I wanted to finish really badly was updating my bathroom because it stressed me just to look at it. I spent the better of 6 months looking at things, then buying things that didn’t fit or work, and returning those things, and it’s just been this back and forth. I didn’t want to just give up because I’m not wired that way. I learn by doing … so I kept doing until that work resulted in me cracking a pipe in my tub that caused my neighbor’s bathroom to flood. This is an error that I’m still paying for, and I wished that I could have just stopped. I would have been ok with new linens, a curtain, rugs, and accessories, but I was stubborn.
I have to be ok with doing what I can and letting things go because I’m human, and I know I can’t do everything, nor do I need to. I don’t want to miss out on things because I’m stuck in my place fixing or cleaning something … that’s not living my best life. That’s just making me miserable. So I’ve crossed out two things to get me started, and maybe when I revisit this list, I can cross out more projects that I’ve completed, or just let them go … baby steps.

With that … I’ll close my post today. Thanks so much for visiting my blog + and with each post in this series, I hope that I can bring some of my happiness to others, because if you have happiness in your heart, then you spread that happiness to others.
