Sunday Journal: Chit-Chat … 52 List for Happiness [#25]
Hello Friends! … and Happy sanctified Sunday. I can’t believe how time flies because I’m about halfway through my Happiness Journal and halfway through the process of learning new ways to bring joy into my life and to have more appreciation for what I have. I am blessed, and it’s taken a while for that to sink in, but I thank Him every day for the gifts I’ve been given. Learning to be happy is investing in yourself … which brings me to this weeks list which asks … “List the ways that you enjoy investing in your mind body and soul.“
- Yoga calms and energizes the body, focuses the mind, and soothes the soul
- Music sets the mood to quiet down or engage the mind
- Writing engages my mind and soul
- Rest for the body and mind
- Reading opens the mind to new ideas
- Walking is good for the body, engaging your muscles and joints
- Meditation can focus the mind, body, and soul through breathing and positive thought
TAKE ACTION: This week practice one of your favorite ways of investing in yourself for a least fifteen minutes every day. If you’re able to get outside while practicing your self-investment on a few of those days, even better! Breathe in that fresh air, soak up the vitamin D from the sun, and feel renewed.
I feel good about this “Take Action” because I’m already incorporating some of these practices weekly. One of the things on my 30-Day Challenge was to practice yoga 3-times, per week [no excuses]. Even when I’m tired, I’m still on my mat, trying to gain that focus, and calm my body while gaining more flexibility so my joints won’t hurt. I get to write here 3 times a week, and on Penzu, and there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not listening to music.
There some things from my list that I do off-and-on, but I would like to make them a regular practice. Last year, I completed several books on my Good-Reads list [9 total], but I was still shy 3 books from my goal. I would love to be able to meditate at least 2-times per week, but I can’t seem to commit, and of course, rest because I never seem to get enough of it. Rest is also something that I’m adding to my 30-Day Challenge for February.
In the opening, I talked about being halfway through this journal. At this point what I’ve taken away from it is really geared towards work [and tasks that I struggle with]. It was the one thing in my life that I dreaded the most, and the one thing that gave me the most stress, but with this journal and time, I’ve learned to appreciate what I have and to try to be more patient. I’m also learning patience from my two loves “AK and the Mighty B”. When your set in your ways, it’s hard to open up and let in joy … not because you don’t want to, but because you’ve forgotten how. We are all a work in progress, and I ask for patience because God is not through with me yet. [Do you know that song?]
With that + I’ll close my post today. Thanks so much for visiting my blog + and with each post in this series + I hope that I can bring some of my happiness to others + because if you have happiness in your heart + then you spread that happiness to others.
