Hello Friends and Happy Sunday! Last week [even though I only worked 4 days] was the longest 4 days ever + due to my stay-cation being right around the corner. It was almost like moving through a fog. I was waking up later everyday + and my energy was spent + I had zero motivation. I needed this break + and I’m going to make the most of the short time that I have.
This weekend I visited with family + and while in the area got to hit up some great thrift stores. I’m always on the look out for photography props and this weekend did not disappoint + as I brought home a few goodies to add to the collection. I also started on my bathroom + in which I did jump the gun + and in the process found out how difficult it was to change a shower arm + and an overflow cap that hasn’t been touched in 10 years. I like working with my hands and doing something which requires your full focus. It also brings me to List 8 which asks … “List the things you like to do that don’t require technology”. How dependent are we on our electronic devices. My guess would be very … because when you can’t leave the house without your phone + then I would say … hell yes … we are dependent on technology + and rely on it for everything.
List #8: List The Things You Like That Do Not Require Technology
- Walks with my loved ones
- Talks with my loved one
- Playing with BJDs [Ball Jointed Dolls]
TAKE ACTION: It’s easy to end up spending a lot of time with technology, but does that time really make you happy? Take a half hour each day this week that you would normally spend on screens to do something else that you enjoy. View it as your happiness practice time.
“Happiness Time” … I’ve never really thought of it this way + which is one of the reasons I’m really growing to love this journal + because it allows me to think outside the box. Our lives are so engrained in what we do on our phones + that we seldom stop to pay attention. Why do we have to work so hard at being happy individuals. When you were a child did you ever have to work hard at being happy. It just came to you by doing things you love. For me … creating anything with my hands makes me happy. The simple art of cooking a good meal + or making something brings me joy. To dance like no one is watching + or to read and wonder where the time went is special.
When I was younger I played with dolls until I was embarrassed to admit I played with them. Who would have though that in my adulthood + I would still play with them but on a different level. Taking a simple walk with the people in your life that you care about + or just having a conversation is so beautiful + because those are the memories that we savor. To do something purely from memory without asking Siri + or Google how it’s done + is the best way to unplug from life’s constant drum. I think it’s time we danced to the beat of a different one + one that makes your heart sing + and one where your happy without even trying … your just happy because.
“Now and then it’s good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy.” –Guillaume Apollinaire
Thanks so much for visiting my blog today + and with each post I hope that I can bring some of my happiness to others + because if you have joy in your heart + then you spread that joy to others. – [Know Thyself] Wye
